ABOUT
BACKGROUND
The Asian Forensic Sciences Network (AFSN) is a network of Forensic Science Institutes providing forensic science services in Asia. This network was formed in 2008 and currently consists of 64 institutions from 17 countries in Asia.
EVENT HISTORY
The idea of AFSN started in 2006 with a regional workshop held in Singapore which consists of 5 Asia countries. Other regions had already started their forensic science networks with the ultimate goal in combating crime and creating a platform for sharing of information between countries. The annual meeting was then alternatively organised among the country's members. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic that hit the world in 2020, in addition to cross-country travel restrictions that have been imposed globally, the AFSN annual meeting had to be held virtually in 2020 and 2021. In 2022, the annual meeting and symposium was held physically in Indonesia after Covid-19 is declared endemic.

It is occasionally accompanied by dance performances and showcases a fusion of local and Southeast Asian traditions.
